Named an All-American Road in 1996 by the U.S. Department of Transportation, the Pacific Coast Highway parallels the coast of California and runs by many desirable destinations for a weekend getaway. Described by National Geographic as an exhilarating driving experience due to its multiple curves and cliffs, the 123 miles of the Pacific Coast Highway passes through major destinations like Carmel-by-the-Sea, Big Sur, San Simeon, and Morro Bay. The highway also traverses California wine country, where vineyards produce some of the world’s best wines.
